The Return of the Bombshell, and 87 Years of Pinup Photography

Who has the power to resist this mesmerizing slideshow/timeline of American pinups from 1925 to the present? Ah! It’s gorgeous, and a little bit sad. Accompanying it is an interesting, less-sad article about the modern allure of the vintage-pinup look, in which one young woman explains that what was once “porno material” has become “classy now,” and another that pursuing the look “has more to do with rebelling against today’s version of man bait” (i.e. “the spray tans, breast implants and emaciated figures of today’s lingerie models”). There’s also a delightful slideshow of the incredibly fun-sounding model/photographer Bunny Yeager. It’s an appealing three-part package, and I recommend the whole thing.
