RIP, Henry Hill
Goodfellas. The movie that was so good they eventually gave Scorsese an Oscar for The Departed, like, sixteen years later, even though there was that YEESH moment at the end when the rat symbolizes political corruption (rat spoilers!)
More importantly, if Henry Hill had never lived, Nick Pileggi wouldn’t have written that book about him, and then maybe Nora Ephron wouldn’t have married Nick Pileggi, and then she wouldn’t have had an amazingly happy marriage, and then she wouldn’t have been inspired to write all those great scenes for Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci in Julie and Julia, and it would have been just that annoying couple in Queens for two hours.
Butterfly flaps mobster wings, movie hurricane in China, etc.
