Why Did The Guy Give A Little Bit Of A Speech If He Knew He Lost?

At the Oscars.

This doesn’t make any sense to me. Why did the guy give a little bit of a speech if he knew he lost? I know what you’re thinking and it is crazy to me, too, that I am writing about the Academy Awards the morning after the Academy Awards even though it is not technically required of me, but this moment — I don’t understand.

What? Why did the guy give a little bit of a speech if he knew he lost? Was it to not embarrass the first guy, whoever he was, since that guy gave a speech? He was going to learn eventually. Did the guy want to speak French on TV and this was his moment?

I don’t know. Good morning!
