Happy Penumbral Eclipse

Today there’s a lunar eclipse, which people in East Asia, Australia, Hawaii, and Alaska can watch in real time, and which people elsewhere can watch basically now — or, starting in 15 minutes, via the SLOOH Space Camera. A warning, however, is that it “won’t be as dramatic as a total lunar eclipse,” although “lunar observers can still find something worth watching as the moon turns a darker shade of pale.”

Wait, actually: Under the SLOOH Space Camera’s countdown clock, a box says “WEATHER ALERT — THIS EVENT WILL BE CANCELLED DUE TO POOR WEATHER. SORRY!” So, scratch all of this. SLOOH still has an interesting site, though. It “aspires to restore mankind’s subliminal connection to the seasonal ebb and flow of the night sky,” and is also on Twitter.
