Anyone else spend a significant chunk of 2005 singing along very dramatically to “Your Ex-Lover is Dead”? Well, Stars are back with a new LP called The North, and they’ve released a black-and-white video for their first single that comes, at the end of this political earthquake of a week, as a luminous miniature celebration of new freedoms and a hope for more to come. “Drag queens know a couple of things the rest of us choose not to know,” said Torquil Campbell, lead singer of the band. “You are who you imagine yourself to be, and you can be a star even if, especially if, nobody ever knows who you really are.”
