Lifehack: Remove the Men From the Songs

Total Freedom went ahead and made a mix of “From Time,” a strange ballad of a song off of Drake’s latest album, Nothing Was The Same, that doesn’t include any Drake. (The mix is titled, in part, “AKA BUHBYE DRAKE.”) The original song puts Drake in dialogue with singer Jhene Aiko, as she sings softly about his qualities and shortcomings as a partner (“Darling you, you give but you cannot take love/ I love me, I love me enough for the both of us”); the end result sounds like Drake had a woman sing things to Drake that Drake wanted to hear about Drake. This mix drops his defenses (“I needed to hear that shit, I hate when you’re submissive/ Passive aggressive when we’re texting, I feel the distance”) and lets Jhene sing.
