A Brief Interlude for *Dunks*
The Huskies already have a spot in the Final Four, and there’s a good chance they’ll face off against Notre Dame, also undefeated, in the finals. (Those two teams had a couple good games last year.) I will add briefly to this that, as a former gangly teen girl who grew a lot all at once and had to learn to keep her limbs in order on the basketball court and mostly failed at that challenge, it is a wonder to watch Breanna Stewart play. She’s 6’4″ and can play both inside and out with confidence, which is a bit of a rarity in the women’s game, and she can also dunk, as you can see in the video above. I asked Chris Dailey, the Huskies’ associate head coach, if we’d ever see Stewart dunk in a game, and she laughed if off, in what amounted to a perfect distillation of UConn basketball standards: “I told her it’s amazing that someone can dunk and still miss as many free throws as she does.” They’ll play again on Sunday.
