SOHN, “Artifice”

SOHN has been producing excellent stuff (Kwabs, BANKS, Erik Hassle) for a minute now as well as putting out his own music, and in a Disclosure-ish way he’s got a musical stamp that’s distinctive and also very flexible, contradiction-friendly and full of crossover appeal. Just watch this live session he did for 4AD: it is mesmerizing! Anyway, his new album Tremors is now streaming for free on iTunes, and it is a precise and surprisingly textured delight from start to finish, and I just want to talk to someone about how the title track has got to be the best 3/4 song in years maybe and the whole thing is so damn good: silky and glitchy, distant and seductive, minimalist and abundant.
