“In Moscow Always Sunny”
Here’s a trailer for the shot-for-shot Russian-language adaptation of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, whose Google-translated site kicks off like this: “Strong friendship, true love, idealism, nobility and dignity, humility and kindness — all this has nothing to do with the heroes of the series ‘In Moscow always sunny.’”
The name of the bar in the Russian series is “Philadelphia.” This is my new favorite show. The Philadelphia City Paper does a terrific dive into the adaptation’s strange logic — It’s Always Sunny, tuned tight to a very American strain of idiocy, is not the most obvious crossover hit for Russian TNT — and even includes a video comparison of the two versions of the “Mac Bangs Dennis’s Mom” episode.
