Valentine’s Etiquette With Martha

Just in the nick of time, Martha Stewart informs us that the woman is supposed to pay for Valentine’s Day dinner. She said it on her show today, like all “ah, no duh.” Is this some high society etiquette thing only Martha and her friends know about?
