Peaches, “Set It Off”

When I mentioned to my usually stoic friend Kasia that I’d soon be interviewing Peaches, Kasia replied excitedly: “Peaches made me feel so much better about my hairy self,” fondly recalling the transgressive artist’s music video for “Set It Off” in 2000. “She gave me a glimpse into a world where I might be fine.”

Peaches has a new album out, Rub, and Carly Lewis spoke with her for The Toronto Star about inclusivity, anger, and how great it is to be Merrill Beth Nisker. Personally, my favorite Peaches song is “Operate,” but for sure her best video is “Set It Off.” But also “Fuck The Pain Away” is so good. Hmm. Should we just listen to Peaches all night?
