Modeling Makes Women Thinner
by Liz Colville
Crystal Renn, the popular plus-size model signed with Ford, has been shrinking, as indicated by an editorial in the December issue of Harper’s Bazaar, and it’s prompted people to ask if she’s even plus-size anymore. Her agent at Ford says she’s a “FULL 8” — what’s with the caps? — and that Renn is “perfectly healthy” and has “reintroduced exercise into her routine.” He also suggests that maybe models shouldn’t be pigeonholed as either plus size or “straight size.” But for booking purposes, they obviously have to be described by their measurements as well as their look.
It seems like Renn’s look is now harking back to the good old days of Linda Evangelista, Helena Christensen, et al, who were statuesque but not ridiculously thin. Still, one hopes Renn and people close to her are looking out — the model has dealt with anorexia in the past, and wrote about it in a memoir called Hungry. And, hellewww, she was a total babe when her size was in the double digits. [Via]
