Hawaii and North Dakota have come in first and second in the annual pursuit of American well-being (New York is 34, California 17, and Massachusetts 16, if you happen to live in one of the three states that send this site the most traffic). When asked for comment on what North Dakota’s secret might be, noted expert Abe Sauer says, “I would say booze.” The official drink of North Dakota, however, is milk. Its state fish is the Northern Pike.
