Austin-tatious, San Tan-tonio, and OPI’s 10 Other Texas-Themed Nail Polishes

by Layla Schlack

OPI, the manicured geniuses behind such nail polish colors as Over the Taupe and Don’t Know…Beets Me!, have launched a Texas-themed collection for spring/summer 2011, and Texans, enterprising cowboys that they are, have seized the collection as an opportunity to promote their state. And that’s how I came to be shaking hands with the First Lady of Texas Anita Perry at the Townhouse Spa in Midtown Manhattan, being careful not to smudge my freshly painted San Tan-tonio nails.

Anita Perry, margaritas, and free manicures were just icing on the cake — the best part were the punderful (ha) color names:

  • Suzi Loves Cowboys (chocoloate brown)
  • It’s Totally Fort Worth It (silver)
  • Don’t Mess With OPI (kelly green)
  • Austin-tatious Turquoise (duh)
  • I Vant to Be A-Lone Star (bluish silver)
  • Y’all Come Back, Ya Hear (tangerine)
  • Big Hair…Big Nails (hot pinky-reddish)
  • Guy Meets Gal-veston (kind of a blush color)
  • Too Hot Pink To Hold ’Em (hot pink)
  • Do You Think I’m Tex-y? (also hot pink)
  • Houston We Have a Purple (really more of a magenta)

Full disclosure, I did get a sweet goody bag filled with OPI colors (and I think I’ll use San Tan-tonio again).
