“Christmas At Pee Wee’s Playhouse” Is The Best Christmas Special
The headline is overly assured for traffic purposes but also it’s true.
I hesitate to give recommendations. This is because I think of happiness as finite and I want to hoard all of the best things for myself in order to accumulate as much happiness as I can while inflicting as much sadness as possible on others. Just kidding. I’m a “good” person. It’s because I don’t care what you do and we should all mind our own business. But it’s the holidays, and that’s why I am recommending to you now:
This is a very good Christmas special. Look at everyone who is in it:
- Annette Funicello
- Frankie Avalon
- Grace Jones
- k.d. lang
- Dinah Shore
- Little Richard
- Cher
- Magic Johnson
- Zsa Zsa Gabor
- Del Rubio Triplets
- Whoopi Goldberg
- Oprah Winfrey
- Joan Rivers
- Charo
Incredible list of guests. More and more of them die every year, and most recently it was Zsa Zsa Gabor. It’s always interesting to watch a Christmas special that you loved as a child and think about how all of the guest stars used to be alive, but now a lot of them are dead. Time passes, it’s true, and the clock is ticking for the remaining Pee Wee Christmas special guests. This isn’t a threat but I hope k.d. lang is remembering to live each day fully.
It’s a funny special, there are nice songs. There’s a good running gag about fruitcake. (“FRUITCAKE!”) There are some good cartoons. Jambi is there, doing his thing. There’s a dreidel, for inclusivity. Here’s a clip:
Hahaha. And guess what: It’s available to watch on Netflix.
Hmm, what else. You can watch it with:
- Children
- Adults
What more do you want to know????
It’s great!
