Have To Admit That Coke Jingle Is Good

“Honesty is for the most part less profitable than dishonesty,” said Plato according to brainyquotes.com search term “dishonesty.” Mm. With a nod to the alleged Plato, I must speak my honesty about the current Coke jingle even though I will not profit from my endorsement although I would like to make it clear that I would gladly accept any profit if it were to come my way: it’s good.

I don’t know who wrote it or who sings it, no, that is a lie. I do know. It’s Avicii and someone else, I just saw it written someplace, but now I forget. You can look up who sings it yourself, this is not an informational blog post it’s just an admission.

Have you been to see a movie recently? I have been to two, one today (The Greatest Showman) and the one last week (Star Wars). The Greatest Showman is I think genuinely one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen in my life, but one of the delights it did offer aside from Zendaya and the part at the very end where the non-ballerina daughter was a tree (??) was the Coke commercial that ran before it which culminates in the Coke jingle’s incredible chorus:

Noo-o one can STOP! Me when I taste that feeeeling!
Nothing could ever briiiing me! DooOooOown!

Oh, my god. I love to hear this song before a movie. Nooo-o one can STOP! Me when I taste that feeeeling! It’s like “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon, a great song, but it’s about Coke, which is just so funny that I can’t even believe it. Look at the full lyrics:

It feels good, in my heart, in my soul,
When you’re right here beside me
I don’t ever want this day to end
We can watch the waves, have a Coke
And you sit here beside me
Take a little long my heart again
So we can feel whatever you feel
Together be real, together and
No one can stop me when I taste that feeling
Nothing could ever bring me down
No one can stop me when I taste that feeling
Nothing could ever bring me down
You make it easier to sing it
You make it easier to sing it
Feels good as we stand on the shore
And now our hearts are jumping
Grab another Coke and let’s dive in
Oh, my love, there’s a song in my soul
When you are around me
You make it easier to sing it
So we can feel whatever you feel
Together be real, together at
No one can stop me when I taste that feeling
Nothing could ever bring me down
No one can stop me when I taste that feeling
Nothing could ever bring me down
With every fading sunset
We see the stars aligned
We make the simple moments last for a lifetime
So, we can feel forever
You and me, together
We stay free forever
And be real together
No one can stop me when I taste that feeling
Nothing could ever bring me down
No one can stop me when I taste that feeling
Nothing could ever bring me down
You make it easier to sing it
You make it easier to sing it

Literally a song about Coke? Hahah. Ahh. “Grab another Coke and let’s dive in.” A crazy thing about Coke’s advertisements in general is the idea that you’re going to have more than one Coke.

Anyway, have to admit that chorus is good and I love to hear it before a movie.

DON’T buy Coke.

Love,

Kelly
