The band is on a break, but the boys aren’t.

One Direction last performed together on a Sunday night, Dec. 13th, 2015, on the season finale of the British iteration of “The X Factor.” They sang a single from their fifth album, accepted accolades from Simon Cowell and others, and then vanished into the night to begin a hiatus with no end-date. Between them, in the months since they last took the stage, they have officially announced very little — two solo record deals, the birth of a child, the founding of a golf management company. But each week they are out in the world, doing things, going places. This is what we know.

On Wednesday, Harry Styles’s three-week invisibility streak was broken when a fan posted a picture of him on an airplane wearing a ruffled Burberry blouse. The location and date of the flight were not disclosed. On Wednesday, he called the family of a sick child in England to arrange a Facetime conversation. On Thursday, he attended Kendall Jenner’s 21st birthday party in LA. On Friday, he went to a Kanye West concert. On Saturday, he showed up at a surprise party for Meghan Trainor, where he paused for a photograph with actor and DJ Ansel Elgort.

On Monday, Niall Horan had jetlag and watched a documentary about Oasis. On Friday, he saw The Lumineers. On Saturday, he watched Chelsea play football and Ireland play rugby. On Sunday, he had a hangover.

Louis Tomlinson attended the Pride of Britain Awards in London on Monday. He presented an award with Olly Murs and purchased a child’s painting for £15,000. His entourage and prep team included girlfriend Danielle Campbell, One Direction PR man Simon Jones, and One Direction hairstylist Lou Teasdale.

Liam Payne continued to post from the studio, where he is recording his solo album. He posted a picture of himself at the mic (caption: “stay working” and a rocket emoji) and another of two men in the production booth (caption: “twist” and three tornado emojis). On the latter, he also tagged Oakestra, Zaire Koalo, and a songwriter called Jerm D. Both pictures utilized Prisma filters.

Notable Adjacent News

Zayn Malik, former member of the band, released his self-titled memoir on Wednesday. In an interview with ET Canada, he admitted that he did not write the quote attributed to him in the Facebook post that informed fans he would be leaving the band.

“I’m going to ask you a question now,” he said after an interviewer read the quote to him. “Do you think I wrote that? Like, look how it’s worded. I’m not a 35-year-old lawyer. I don’t write like that.” This, an excerpt from his book, is how he writes:

We’d go everywhere, to Hyde, Warwick, One Oak [sic], Bootsy Bellows and Nice Guys [sic]. But we weren’t just going out to get trashed. Promise. We were checking out the scene to see what was going on, what new music people were listening to. It was great to hear what the vibe was and how people were reacting to stuff. We liked to think of it as research, like us doing our homework. But I’m not going to lie, we had our fun, too; it was always a sick night. It really felt like life was looking up.
