New Names For Old British People
- “Smarties” = senior market town retirees (where market town means not a seaside town)
- “Diamond Days” = mortgage-free suburban jetsetter
- “Senior Security” = comfortable and risk-averse
- “Vintage Value” = just as condescending as it sounds
According to the Norwegian (did you know??) credit-rating agency, Experian, there are new terms with which to slice up the monolith of retirement-age Brits, also known as “pensioners.” Never mind that none of these words or phrases are even parallel with each other, let’s just see how long they stick around. The American versions are no better: Senior Sun Seekers, Retirement Communities, The Elders.
