What Was Street Style?

I spend a lot of time thinking about the formula for outfits that get photographed on street style blogs between, roughly, 2009–2013. Elements included:

1. Jackets draped over shoulders.

2. Alternatively, a Balenciaga shearling jacket.

3. Purses carried in the crook of a bent arm or held in a hand.

4. Ripped jeans.

5. Or cropped pants.

6. Heels on cobblestone streets.

7. Big scarves
