The Best Eyeliner Is…
Casey Johnston continues to do the most important work of our time, up to and including the 100 hours she and the entire Sweethome team spent trying to find the best eyeliner. I am, personally, extremely partial to a gel eyeliner; the experience of gently pressing a stiff, angled brush into a really nice creamy formula is so calming, and the control you get is totally worth the temporary learning curve of applying it. My technique is to go very, very slowly, pressing the angled brush right into my lash and giving it a little wiggle to make sure the color gets firmly deposited onto my skin, and repeating that all the way to the outer corner. I used to use the MAC version but seem to have misplaced it over the summer, so, sure, I’ll buy the Bobbi Brown one they recommend.
If you want to get REALLY serious about eyeliner, and I always do, I’d also recommend a cake eyeliner, like this one from Kryolan that came with my beauty school kit. This product is exclusively for a tightline: a pencil tightline is fine, but a spritz of water on a stiff brush mixed with the cake liner formula and then applied right under your lash line is the realest shit. Ugh, ok, you talked me into it, let’s go to Sephora real quick.
