The Week Of August 24–28
When I got back from Calgary on Monday, I decided that the theme of my week was “sleep.” I do this sometimes when I’m trying to decide how to schedule a small block of time; I’ll pick a loose theme as an organizing priority and then make my plans accordingly. That way, when people are like, hey, what are you doing this week? you can just say this week I’m all about sleeping and then you make sure that everything you’re doing revolves around sleep. Anyway, I was tired, and now I’m less tired!! So you can see how this works very well.
The musical theme for this week — and for the rest of our lives, probably — was the new Carly Rae Jepsen. The worst movie of the decade — and of all time, probably — is Aloha. What’s your look for the end of summer? Here are a bunch of options to choose from!
Alex shattered our nightclub fantasies, and perhaps will shatter some glasses in a rage room sometime in the future, right after she returns from the live music experiences dads love so much. Helen found a dress so wrong it was right. Arabelle wrote about her name(s). We spoke to deerjerk and to women with HPV; we ranked our fears; we nodded in agreement at this informative essay; we defended politeness; we read Elena Ferrante; we did character studies of candy mascots. We wrote fan fiction. Oof. No wonder I’m so tired! Should we all move to a friend commune and take a group nap real quick?
This weekend, the theme is…”eating.” You heard it here first. Put something really delicious in your mouth and report back on Monday.
