Fashion Rules I Have Made For Myself That Are Entirely Meaningless, Part 1

  • Light-colored pants and jeans must be worn with light-colored shoes.
  • Black and navy can only be worn together in cold weather; in hot weather, only light colors can mix with navy.
  • Pastel colors are neutrals.
  • Socks can never be worn with dresses, shorts, or skirts. Open shoes preferred but not mandatory.
  • A t-shirt or tank top can be worn with long pants or a skirt but not shorts. A long-sleeved shirt can be worn with long pants, skirts, and/or shorts.
  • When wearing a tank top, hair should be down and loose. Hair can be in bun or ponytail in sweater or long-sleeved shirt. T-shirts are wild cards.
  • When weather permits, drape jackets over shoulders.
  • Purses should be avoided at all costs.
  • Pants should always be slightly cropped slightly above the ankle, either rolled at the hem or shortened.
  • Bras are accessories.
  • My Acne shoes can and should be worn with literally everything.
  • Never leave the house without contemplating these rules for at least 45 minutes.
