The Doors, “Ghost Song”
by Alexandra Molotkow
I know this is officially a horrible song, and the Doors are officially a terrible band (I think I disagree with that consensus, but only because I want to), but I really love this track from the album where Jim Morrison was dead but the other guys set his poetry to music or whatever, which is a concept so despicable you kind of have to get behind it.
Sometimes I hear better songs with similar guitar parts and I should feel grateful to have found the essence of “Ghost Song” in a better jam, but instead I miss “Ghost Song” the way you miss a tacky, self-important ex who just made you feel good.*
Shout out to Kelly, who burned this for me in grade 9.
