Ask Baba Yaga: Am I Watching Too Much Television?

Transcript after the jump.

Dear Baba Yaga,

I have this great writing fellowship and tons of hours that I can devote to my practice, yet I end up squandering so much time on watching shows. How do I say no to this golden age of TV?

BABA YAGA:

Every body gathers ; around such a dense fire — a treasure box always flashing with lives&moods;, a golden egg asking only that you crack it open, & it will birth endless beings. The egg glows in the forest, & the forest around it glows not of its own accord : it is spacious, it needs be walked through for its moods to be known, & when you meet its beings they see you as well as you see them. It is wearying, the wandering. The egg ) can be rolled down the hill & hidden in a burrow; the egg can be dropped into a river. But the hill & the burrow & river will know you & stalk you even when you are not looking at them, & they will find you, & the egg will sleep in its golden shell.
