Weekend Roundup / Open Thread
GOOD AFTERNOON. Jazmine is away, taking a much-deserved long weekend, so I am honoring her by:
A) Taking over the Weekend Roundup;
B) Spelling “honor” without the correct “u;”
C) Eating a sandwich as I write this Weekend Roundup with the (incorrect) American spelling.
How was your week? Mine was pretty good! I went to New York for one hot minute, now I’m back in Toronto. So jetset. Today I actually left my garbage apartment; above is proof that I am currently sitting in a very nice coffee shop, although I downed my coffee so fast I couldn’t get it in this shot. I’m still very impressed with myself.
Our little corner of the Internet was, if I may be so bold, truly excellent this week. We got horoscopes from Gala and excerpted bits of Vogue (no commentary necessary) to celebrate the beginning of a new month; we did not buy a jumpsuit for Lewis Hamilton; we “climbed” Kurt Cobain’s fence; talked to Megan Amram about lady science for our lady brains; Jaya and Jazmine came up with much, much better security questions for our various security needs; we sexted while in Texas; we praised love with a professional matchmaker; we channeled our inner domestic goddess with Kris Jenner’s Kookbook; learned a little bit more than we ever wanted to know about Jack and Diane; got through a really bad month; worshipped celebrities; read poetry by Jenny Zhang; and, lol, jokingly-but-also-so-seriously planned my wedding.
Did you read Jazmine’s latest One Big Question yet? Because if you haven’t, you must, it is truly wonderful. The best way to start your weekend is, I firmly believe, to read the words of smart, beautiful, excellent women, and these words happen to be exceptionally inspiring and nourishing, like motivational…soup? I don’t know. Just read it.
Next week, Jazmine will be at The Forever Fest, on a panel with Mallory Ortberg, Jennifer Romolini, and Taylor Truden — -you should also go, if you can! And I will be heading to Miami for the 2nd Annual Bullish Conference, which I am really looking forward to. Let’s just look at a few photos of the pool real quick. “Fuck you, November!!” — Jazmine & I
What are you doing this weekend? What about next week? Going anywhere cool? Fun? Tell me about it!!
