EMA, “3Jane”
Following up “So Blonde” and “Satellites,” EMA’s released this scraping, glimmering ballad off her forthcoming album The Future’s Void, which you can stream now on NPR if inclined. Although I am always ambivalent about her tongue-in-cheek forays into the theoretical (for this song: “Disassociation is a modern disease”; for a past one: “The smiling blonde white woman is the most exploited image in the world”) there is an appeal to these lyrics: Feel like I glued my soul out across the inter-webs and screamed/ It was a million pieces/ Silver, watched them gleam.
