Three Monday Rock Songs: White Denim, Lissie, Ava Luna
By jia.tolentino October 7, 2013
Good morning and good Monday! I spent this weekend missing Austin City Limits, the festival where I cut my music teeth in high school, which has resisted the siren call of DJs and dance tents to stick fairly closely to its dusty, guitar-loving roots. Here are some newish songs in honor of its successfully elapsed first weekend: first, the Jeff Tweedy-produced lead single from White Denim’s new album Corsicana Lemonade; second, a song from Back to Forever, the sophomore album from Lissie, a singer-songwriter who shredded through a 10-minute guitar solo last time I saw her live and is responsible for the best Kid Cudi cover ever; last, a riot grrl-y Icona Pop cover from Ava Luna.
White Denim, “Pretty Green”
Ava Luna, “I Love It”
