Ask a Three-Year-Old: Heartbreak

by A Three-Year-Old

Dear Three-Year-Old,

I am heartbroken. I fell in love — wisely or unwisely, I have yet to determine — and it didn’t work out. I know that life will go on, and it is going on, but how do I make this stop hurting?

Signed,

Heartbroken

Dear Heartbroken,

Today Mommy said to take a long nap because I was reaaaallly tired. But I can also just go lie down if I want to, and close my eyes (like this). And I can snuggle with my animals: Girl Cat, Mommy Cat, Lambie, Lion, Squid, Gorilla. I might be lonely, but that’s okay, because then I just go to sleep! Maybe you can take a nap too, and snuggle with your animals? When we wake up, we can pack our bags and set off in search of adventure.
