What Happened at the VMAs? As Always, the Answer Is “Everything” and Also “Nothing”

Good morning! The MTV Video Music Awards happened last night, and if you missed them and would care to catch up on the performances (Kanye, Drake, 20 minutes of Timberlake with 1 minute of N*SYNC, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and of course, Miley) you can stream them all here, or alternately watch this 13-year-old video of Britney Spears performing “Satisfaction/Oops I Did It Again” at the awards show and speculate about when the pop pendulum might swing away from “clumsy white appropriation of black culture” (although: has it ever?) and back towards ladies who can work it out on a good old-fashioned choreographed routine.
