MS MR, “Think Of You”
The original video for Hairpin pals MS MR’s breakout hit, “Hurricane,” looked vaguely familiar, like a rapid scroll through a carefully curated Tumblr feed. The pair followed that up with a more bizarre interpretation of the track, and a video for “Fantasy” followed suit (think cheerleaders vomiting glitter). They’ve also provided alternative visuals on their site, called “Secondhand Captures.” (“’Secondhand’ refers to the mediated way in which we relate to each other and the world around us,” vocalist Lizzy Plapinger has said. “We’re fascinated by how technology gives us access to a vast new universe that feels incredibly intimate despite being once removed.”) “Think Of You,” their latest, finds some middle ground between the bizarre and the nostalgic: public access television has never looked so neon.
Secondhand Rapture is out now.
