American Cosmetic Surgery in Dubai

For the second time this week, The Atlantic’s running an article about plastic surgery abroad (see also: “The K-Pop Plastic Surgery Obsession”), and today’s installation focuses on doctors who operate frequently in the Middle East. It’s an odd piece, and it almost seems like the featured surgeon wasn’t aware that he’d be quoted, or otherwise wasn’t thinking particularly hard about his responses. (“[Middle Eastern women’s] job is to look good for their men and that’s all they care about.”) The whole thing is strange, really. And I wonder what it’s like to fall asleep knowing you’re helping spread “vaginal rejuvenation” surgery around the planet. (‘Amazing; a dream come true.’)
