1. Jessica Fletcher, Murder, She Wrote
Following the tragic death of her husband Frank, Jessica Fletcher (nee MacGill) takes up the typewriter, and from the clickety-clack of those keys comes her first mystery novel, The Corpse Danced at Midnight. It’s basically what happens to everyone’s grandmother, only Jessica’s nephew’s girlfriend happened to work for a publisher. *EYE ROLL.* She becomes famous, and gets involved in a suspiciously high number of murder investigations herself — although no one ever directly calls her out on it. Police often consult with her, being all “Scribe of fiction, what do you think occurred?” Also her dead husband got a lady pregnant during the Korean war. Basically I posit this show is a precursor to “Dexter.”

2. Mrs. Potts, Beauty and the Beast
A rebel in her own time, Mrs. Potts is a woman of a certain age, a single mom with a troubled son, and just doing the best she can while taking care of her boss, who’s a moody, demanding asshole. Proving that one good turn, does not, in fact, deserve another, when this asshole was cursed for being so asshole-ish, Mrs. Potts and her boy-idiot Chip were cursed along with him. Mrs. Potts doesn’t let it get her down, taking time out to serve hot fluids to sultry, well-read brunettes. She doesn’t even stop to scream “It burns — IT BURNS!” every time tea is forced through her magicked nasal passages. Mrs. Potts’ hobbies include making everyone sleep in the cupboard and serenading mismatched if romantically compatible twosomes.

3. Eglantine Price, Bedknobs and Broomsticks
Okay, okay, okay — Miss Price (Eglantine to her friends and would-be lovers) is the best [crash] around, and nothing’s ever goooonna hold her down! This spunky strawberry blonde is doing her damndest to further her education, completing a correspondence course in witchcraft despite the universe doing its best to foil her, what with World War II happening, some hilarious child-cockneys taking up residence in her seaside cottage, and the distinct likelihood that she’s been scammed by the fake dean of her mail-order witch school (hate the player, not the game, Eggy!). The joke’s on everyone else, though, when Miss Price takes time out from singing and dancing to magically transport herself and the children on the big brass bed on which they’ve been lying, as well as find love, practice proper magic, and SINGLE-HANDEDLY SAVE ENGLAND FROM THE NAZIS. Also, her named is Eglantine.
