Makeup and Veils in Tehran

The Times Lens blog has an interesting slideshow of Iran-born photographer Kiana Hayeri’s project “Your Veil Is a Battleground” — pictures of young women partying, dropping their veils, swimming in public (illegal there), and wearing/not-wearing makeup. The last six slides are particularly mesmerizing, and that is definitely how to wear purple lipstick. (More pictures can be found on Kiana’s own website.)
