SMDH, SAT & ACT

Beginning with exams taken in September, students will have to submit a photo of themselves when they apply for a test. That photo will be printed on the student’s test admission ticket and the roster provided to proctors at testing sites. Testing staff will compare the submitted photo to a photo ID and to the student in person at the testing site.

New security measures were announced today that should make a very particular variety of cheating on the SAT and ACT a lot tougher: paying someone to take the test for you. They’ll also no longer allow you (or the person you’re paying) to drop in for the test at a school other than your own. Apparently some college students in New York (of course) were caught acing the tests for high schoolers last year. Seriously, they got like 31s! Mini rant: this scam has “PARENTS’ IDEA” written all over it, but if it’s not, parents are still partially at fault for putting too much pressure on their kids OR some kids these days are so afraid of ending up on the “wrong” side of an unfair economy that they’re becoming expert cheaters as early as possible OR the SAT and ACT need to relax and quit taking themselves so seriously. You’re just tests and nobody is ever going to like you.
