Possible Reasons Why There “Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone”

by E.A. Weiss

She left during a solar eclipse.

You are referring to S Club 7’s third album, Sunshine, which she stole on her way out.

She put a sleeping bag over your head, taped it around your ankles, and ran away.

You live in Qaanaaq, Greenland, and she left at the beginning of your region’s annual three-month dark period.

She never left, but you believe that she and the sun are gone every time you close your eyes.

She is Mother Earth and has control over such things.

You refer to the sun as “She.”

She’s gone only at night.

“Ain’t no” is a double negative, so there is sunshine when she’s gone thus making it like every other human relationship.
