Name the Horrible New Crabs

If you’d like to start your day as I did, here’s 1:20 in footage of a new species of yeti crab, as yet unnamed, found in deep-sea vents off the southern coast of Georgia. Researchers are currently calling it “The Hoff,” after its hairy “chest,” although its more-notable characteristic seems to be that it lies around on its friends in massive, slowly writhing piles. “The crab occurs in staggering densities,” says a zoologist. “It is just incredible to see these animals literally lying in heaps around the diffuse flow of these vents.”
