Is The Help any good, or will it just allow me to stop saying ‘no, I’ve bought it, I just haven’t read it yet, because glurg and terrible use of dialect?’ It seems like it might be either good, or decent, or completely mediocre, or any of those adjectives plus offensive. And the trailer for the adaptation looks completely squicky, so if people who’ve read the book would like to weigh in, now’s the time.
Because, otherwise, your summer editor is breaking into her shiny new copy of WAIT FOR IT The Stranger’s Child, which, as a nice commenter pointed out, is easily accessible for not-that-much-money via Amazon UK.
Which turned out to be unnecessary, because, apparently, if you go on the internet and whine about not being able to buy a book, there are these people called publicists who very nicely offer to hook you up. Other people already know this. Five minutes too late.
