Free New Music: Ghostfunk and Carloman
Two new and very different digital albums appeared online this weekend, maybe you’ll like one or both of them.
First up is Ghostfunk, a merging of Ghostface Killah lyrics and “vintage African funk, highlife, and psychedelic rock music” from DJ Max Tannone, the man who brought you Mos Dub, Dub Kweli, and Jaydiohead (all still available, still good). Listen below; head over here for the free download. It easily withstands the Summer BBQ Test.
Then there’s Carloman, an album by Dominic Matar and Elliot Thompson that’s about Charlemagne’s crazy brother Carloman (no joke), and whose tags probably explain it best: “future medieval indie rock melodramatic popular song pre-baroque pop New York.” It’s like if Simon and Garfunkel lived at a Renaissance Faire in outer space. Enjoy! If you like it, you can name your price.
