The Oldest American Elephant Picture

While “amateur fossil hunter” James Kennedy was fossil hunting in Florida, he stumbled across a 13,000-year-old bone with an engraving of a mammoth or mastodon on it. (“What, I just found it,” he [has not] said.) It is apparently the “oldest, and only known, example of Ice Age art to depict a proboscidean — or an animal with a trunk — in the Americas.” It’s not a very clear picture, but it has been tidied up.
