The Beauty Playing Field of the Future

This slideshow of looming beauty innovations — sunblock pills, home lasers, waterless baths — is I think supposed to be exciting but is instead a bit of a bummer in the same way that that New Yorker article about neuro-enhancers was a bit of a bummer. The easier it is for rich people to stay pretty (everyone’s true goal), the bigger disparity there’ll be between them and the rest of us who don’t have as much money to spend on chin gels and anti-gray suppositories, etc., and then everyone who’s rich will be beautiful and everyone who’s poor will be ugly, and we’ll all be able to see it right there in our interactive Snow White mirrors.
