Kindle Makes It Too Easy to Read Embarrassing Books

by Bonnie

The Kindle is trying to ruin the fun of gawking at embarrassing books people read on the train. I’ve played this game formally with one friend for years. It started with for us with The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Indigo Children. I would relish the opportunity to inform her by text that someone next to me was reading the latest by Sylvia Brown. But that hasn’t happened… that I know about. Look at what we’re missing! These are all new and upcoming Kindle titles, and they are exactly what the people all around you are reading. Don’t be fooled by studious, literary facial expressions.

Buy yourself a nice new book to read on the train, this book probably suggests. Now you can do that, without being openly mocked. And that disappoints me.

You are two out of three of these things, at the very least. Maybe four out of three.

Now you can keep your inner child reading material discreetly tucked away, which is something you’ve never quite been able to do with your actual inner child, huh?

A classic. Now available for Kindle. But you will still have to know that you bought it. Actually while you’re at it, pick up a copy for me.
