Books to Not Reread

“The Fountainhead. The Alchemist. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.” — Flavorpill rounds up seven “Books That Rocked Your World at 16 But Fall Flat Now.” (But then, for no real reason — maybe to jumpstart another Books We Forgot We Loved discussion, or just because it’s Friday and we all spend the entire weekend reading — a book that does hold up: Lonesome Dove, by Larry McMurtry. I read it at 14 and loved it, and then grudgingly reread it last summer — grudgingly because I figured it was one of those trashy novels I liked just because it had sex and horses and abduction in it — but holy smokes is that book good. It’s like a little best friend you can carry in your purse. I think I was in love with at least 10 people in it when it ended. Anyway, moving on.)
