Ryan Gosling Defends Our On-Screen Pleasure
by Liz Colville
“There is something very distorted about this reality that [the MPAA has] created, which is that it is OK to torture women on screen…Any kind of violence towards women in a sexual scenario is fine. But give a woman pleasure, no way. Not a chance. That’s pornography.” — This lovely man. Star of Blue Valentine Ryan Gosling is rightly frustrated that the MPAA has given the film an NC-17 rating just because of some I-cannot-wait-when-does-this-film-finally-come-out-hurry sex scenes with co-star Michelle Williams. UPDATE: The MPAA brought down the movie’s rating to R today after a convincing argument from studio head Harvey Weinstein!
