Holiday Lights Found to Light Up People’s Lives
by Liz Colville
The Dyker Heights Phenomenon, in which people’s eyes are blinded with colorful luminous joy and nearby ConEd/whatever electrical service provider workers sit around gnawing on their fists, actually has a psychological benefit. Says AP, decking one’s piece of real estate in bows of electrical holly is “a simple gesture, yes — but one that touches and comforts people, and brings them together.” Oh boy.
I would go on, but the article brings up 9/11, which would be rude to rope into this contentious debate. Suffice it to say the article’s sections are titled things like “Lights, With Honor.”
