Gwyneth Paltrow: the Cook: the Book

by Liz Colville

Noooo, the inevitable has happened: Gwyneth Paltrow, who describes cooking as her “main ancillary passion in life” — I’ve just held a small, private memorial service for the word ‘ancillary’ — has a cookbook coming out in April 2011. Excerpts in the form of a blad have started arriving on desks including Eater’s, which shares some precious quotes from the thing, which is called My Father’s Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family and Togetherness.

Something about her father “moaning with pleasure.”

Then,

The stove is really the epicenter of my house — I am never far away from it and most of the time there is something atop it, simmering away for my family.

Most of the time??? Gwyneth, you crazy.

I am constantly thinking about ways to give my children something filled with as much nutritional value as possible.

Constantly??? Gwyneth!

When I was growing up, the tomato soup I had was Campbell’s, and how I love it to this day. This is how my mother and I remember it, anyway. Bizarrely, my father and brother always fought us on the validity of this story, as if one would hide serving canned soup for dinner … anyway, I boringly digress.”

So, this is the book’s token, “Oh shit, I should probably say something about soup so the people who receive all those soups that we drop off at Apple’s school don’t feel bad.” Anyway, enjoy your copy of I Boringly Digress: Delicious, Easy Ghostwritten Gwyneth Paltrow Words Celebrating Using Your Stove Always.
