‘Tribal Mentor’ Kelly Cutrone On Hand Jobs, Placentae

by Liz Colville

Fashion writer Renata Espinosa ran into the only reason I ever watched The Hills, People’s Revolution head, and author Kelly Cutrone at a fashion event last night and was delighted when the lady in black told her she’d be making a regular appearance on a “nationally syndicated talk show,” further details of which aren’t available yet. When Espinosa asked her what kinds of things she’ll be talking about on the show, Cutrone was not — as most celebrity interview subjects usually are — short on ideas. At all!

There’s a lot of stuff I want to talk to young women about, but I don’t think I should go out with those first. One of the things was, a young girl said to me — this is kind of risque, so I don’t know if you guys wanna hear it — she was like, can I ask you a question? And I said, sure. I thought she was going to ask me, like what should I wear to my prom? But she asked me, how do you give a really good handjob? A, I’m like, no, and B, I said, well, where are you getting your information now? Like, more motherly. Well, on the Internet, she said. And I thought, why do we send our daughters to Brearley, then send them to Israel and Paris to learn about culture, and we send them to Vivid [Entertainment] to learn about sex?

Also!

These girls really need great, tribal mentoring. So, am I going to start with how to give a good handjob on national television? Probably not!

Cutrone then raises a very good and imaginative point about placentas!

But, you know, the other thing is, what do you do with your placenta? You deliver a baby, you know, and then all the sudden they say, do you want to take your placenta home? I don’t know! What’s going to happen with it? Do you pair it with wine? Do you put it in your freezer? Should it sit near the wedding cake? These are things that are really happening in the world, and nobody talks about it! So, I don’t think I’m going to start with either of these two things…but…
