Never Liked the Arctic Anyway

by Liz Colville

A group of scientists is reporting today that the Arctic is not likely to return to a colder state ever again. On top of that, it might get colder where most of the world’s population resides because the warm Arctic conditions have lately been creating strong north-to-south winds, instead of the usual west-to-east. These are responsible for things like 20 feet of snow dumping on New England in March. “Global warming is not just warming everywhere…It creates these complexities,” says Jim Overland, an oceanographer at NOAA.

P.S. “Sea level rise projections for the future will again need to be revised upward.” Fabulous.
